The Thurston Investment Network (ThINk) will be joining the Methow Investment Network (MIN) and Port Townsend’s Local Investment Opportunity Network (LION) for a virtual event about how Local Investment Networks can assist their business communities reemerge in the post-COVID Economy. Learn how the Association of WA Cities, WSU Extension and WA Microenterprise Association have been convening a statewide Local Investment Network community of practice, including assisting brand-new investing networks to form in Cowlitz/Wahkiakum and Pateros/Brewster. Keynote speaker for the event is author Michael Shuman.

Breakout topics will include:

  • COVID Changes and Associated Opportunities:How can Local Investment Networks (LINs) respond to recent shifts and trends brought about by the global pandemic?
  • Local & Livable:LINs can play an important role in boosting Main Street vitality and more. Explore how LINS can address community priorities like improving trail access and pedestrian walkways, protecting what matters most to us and contributing to local cultural vibrancy.
  • Equity & Equality: Do LINs have a role to play in combating racism or addressing widening economic inequality? Access to social networks and capital are two ways they might be part of the solution.
  • Fluctuations and RisksInterest rates are low and COVID-19 has created a high rate of business turnover and failure. What does this mean for investing in the future? Can this spur loans and opportunities? What are the risks to investors?
