Investor Spotlight: MJR Development

We recently had the chance to learn more about a Thurston EDC Investor, MJR Development when we spoke with partner, Mike McClure. Here’s some of our conversation. Enjoy!

Thurston EDC: How long have you been in business?
Mike: MJR has been in business since 1991.

Thurston EDC: What is your product and who is your customer?
Mike: We develop commercial real estate, including office, retail, and mixed-use buildings. Our customers include both small and large businesses that need a place to conduct their operations.

Thurston EDC: What inspired you – or the founders – to start your business?
Mike: We wanted to turn real estate dreams into reality. We develop buildings that people are proud of and that are sought after in the community.

Mike: Creative design, cost-effective construction, and great customer service

Thurston EDC: What has been your biggest success to date?
Mike: The Hub at Lacey

Thurston EDC: What has been your biggest challenge to date?
Mike: A project called Woodinville Village

Thurston EDC: What does your typical workday look like?
Mike: Check email, make phone calls, and go visit projects, partners, prospects, and tenants

Thurston EDC: What is your best advice for someone who is an aspiring entrepreneur?
Mike: Pick something you are passionate about and be the best at it.
