Thurston EDC’s Investor Reception Boosts Private Investment for Business Support
The Thurston Economic Development Council (EDC) achieved a significant milestone in its mission to expand its reach by successfully organizing an investor reception on May 15. The event, held at 1889 PRIME Steakhouse in downtown Olympia at Views on Fifth, garnered substantial private investment funds, enabling the EDC to continue its crucial work supporting businesses in the region.
One of the primary objectives of the investor reception was to secure funding for different grants the EDC administers. These funds, including the Disaster Relief Fund and the Evergreen Manufacturing Grant, play a vital role in promoting economic growth and resilience within the Thurston community.
“We are pleased to announce the success of our recent investor reception,” stated Michael Cade, Executive Director at the Thurston EDC. “The generous private investments we have raised will enable us to fulfill our role as fiscal managers for the Disaster Relief Fund and the Evergreen Manufacturing Grant, facilitating new locations and buildouts for businesses in need.”
“It is important to note that the Thurston EDC does not receive compensation for so much of this grant work. Instead, private investment funds provide the necessary resources for the organization to carry out these critical initiatives and deliver the associated benefits to local businesses,” he said.
By relying on private funding, the Thurston EDC gains the flexibility to continue its programs regardless of compensation to the organization. This approach ensures the EDC’s sustainability and enables it to provide uninterrupted support and resources to businesses in Thurston County.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our generous investors, whose contributions enable us to positively impact the economic landscape of Thurston County,” expressed Cade. “Their support empowers us to drive economic growth, create new opportunities, and foster a thriving business community.”
Thanks to 1889’s owners, Brandon Smith and Drew MacEwen for giving us early access to the restaurant as well as General Manager Nichole Andres and Executive Chef, Josh Race!
